The UAF Life Sciences Facility (Margaret Murie Building) in Fairbanks, Alaska was recently awarded a Design Merit Award by the Alaska AIA Chapter. The project team included RGD for acoustical design as well as Bezek Durst Seiser, Inc. and SmithGroup, JJR for architecture.
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Sacramento District and its contractor, Magnus Pacific Corporation, have been awarded the American Society of Civil Engineers Sacramento Section – 2012 Flood Control Project of the Year award – for their work on an American River levee.
RGD was hired by Magnus Pacific to monitor noise and vibration levels as per U.S. Army Corps of Engineers specifications. RGD’s work involved deployment of seismographs and sound level meters between the construction area and existing residences to continuously quantify noise and vibration levels. Weekly reports were provided to the contractor who in turn, submitted the reports to the Corps of Engineers. The project also included nighttime construction activities.
RGD has restarted the sound and vibration monitoring at the Marysville Ring Levee for the 2012 construction season. The US Army Corps of Engineers is sponsoring a levee strengthening project in the Yuba River Basin to protect the residential area in Marysville, California. RGD is helping Magnus Pacific and Raito satisfy the Corps’ sound and vibration specification while they conduct deep soil mixing (DSM) improvements. RGD conducted the continuous sound and vibration during the 2011 construction season and has now restarted the monitoring for the 2012 season.
